Inverness is an
excellent touring Centre with good road ,rail and air connections.
Inverness has a population of approx 55000 and said to be
one of the fastest growing cities in Europe. Inverness was
only one of three towns to be granted city status by the queen
in 2000 with the official ceremony in march 2001. Inverness
castle was built on the site of an earlier fortress and now
houses the sheriff courts, a small museum and tearoom. At
the rear stands a statue of flora MacDonald. Inverness provides
many comfortable hotels and bed and breakfast establishments
with many within easy reach of the centre itself.
Inverness is the gateway to the highlands and whatever direction
you take the scenery is breathtaking. Inverness has everything
for everyone young and old with it's swing bridges and floral
displays providing a very picturesque walk by day or night.
Inverness has a large sports centre and swimming pool,large
cinema complex, rollerball, and three golf courses.
Shopping
The eastgate shopping centre has just been expanded
to almost twice it's original size with the new part only
opening in march 2003. shops include debenhams,Laura Ashley,
marks and Spenser,next, Argos many more for you to browse
through. there are also many more shops in the high street,academy
street and church street. you are sure to find what you are
looking for.
Entertainment
Eden court theatre provides all year entertainment
including drama, ballet, comedy, music and cinema. Details

There are many places of interest in and around Inverness
to suit all tastes, be it castles, historical sites or places
of myth and legend.
Whatever direction you take the landscape and scenery are
breathtaking.
